Your new saddle
For a good start and preserve the leather’s quality over the long term, there are a few essential steps to take as soon as you receive the saddle.
Before using it for the first time, start by applying Maurel leather balm with the sheepskin glove to the entire saddle. Let it sit for about 30 minutes to allow the leather to absorb the product, then wipe off any excess with the glove. Then let the saddle rest for several hours before use.
Well-maintained leather is recognizable by its suppleness and luster. Maurel soap ensures thorough cleaning after each use, while the balm deeply nourishes and protects the leather. Applying the balm every four to eight weeks—adjusting the frequency according to the season and the condition of the leather—is sufficient to preserve the saddle over time.

Cleaning
First and foremost, remove dust and residue with a clean cloth. Then apply the glycerin soap to a glove or sponge—never directly onto the leather—and work it into the entire surface using circular motions. This step cleans the leather thoroughly and prepares it to receive the grease.
Rules to keep in mind
Never grease wet leather. After a downpour or a ride in the rain, let the saddle dry naturally, away from any direct heat source, before cleaning and greasing it.
Always grease clean leather. Applying grease to a dirty saddle causes residue to become embedded in the leather.
After each greasing, let the saddle rest for several hours before use.
